Alumni Interview

Sarah Barnes

I chose the Two Mile Ash ITT Partnership for my teacher training because I had heard really good things about the school and the opportunities the training provider offered. It was important to me that I found a provider that would allow me to train on the job, in a school, rather than in a lecture theatre far removed from the realities of a career in teaching.

"Trainees join this partnership because they want to make a difference to pupils and the
generations to come. They are not disappointed. Trainees learn not only what to teach
and how to teach it, but also develop a deep understanding of how children learn."

"As the trainees are placed in a school from the start of the course, they are fully involved in all the professional development opportunities and aspects such as parents evenings, panel review meetings, liaison with parents etc. in addition to their programme, which gives them a deeper understanding of the role of a teacher."

Lucy Eldridge, Head of School, Two Mile Ash

"Personalised support for their well-being and progression through the programme, together with
‘unflinching encouragement and support’, help trainees to sustain their motivation and stay in the profession."

"The teacher training course with Two Mile Ash ITTP was a comprehensive and rewarding experience and gave me the necessary experience and skills to become a classroom teacher."

Edward Elliott (School Direct)

"Trainees absorb demanding research about the most effective ways to teach
pupils, including those pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
They are well equipped to manage pupils’ behaviour and understand how to keep them
